Wayne has been creating music since he was a child, he started rapping at the age of eight and he joined Cash Money Records at just nine years old. Lastly, the change in the author's tone was very evident. The readers could notice when the narrator was talking about life in Harlem or Sonny’s drug abuse because it had a very bitter and cold tone. However, when Sonny was talking about his music the tone was hopeful and positive. Baldwin wanted to show that music was the one thing helping with Sonny’s pain.

The lyrics again display dark subject matter such as violence, drugs, and and almost unsettling realistic depiction of what it is like to live in the gang infested south. Popular trap music today takes a lot of its influence specifically from this album.

In one of his hit single Break The Bank he says “I spit harder than concrete surprised I still got teeth…” Q is making a statement in the world of rap. Quincy or better known by his stage name Schoolboy Q makes a bold statement. His ability to spit a verse is so hard that it is being comparable to concrete which can’t happen literally.

The abuse of power not only reveal in “Big Brother” it also talks about it in “Village Ghetto Land” is a village about the citizens feel uneasy in a dangerous place that is not safe “See people lock their doors” (line 5). The citizens fear of violence and not able to protect theirselves from life or death situations of vandalism and medical attention.
