If this sounds like you, then please share your story. Barely one, I rode the plane at eight months old. Our family left Korea to live in Taiwan. We came to a place where we had no relatives near us, and had to walk through a journey of the unknown. To me, Taiwan became my home. My parents sent me to an international school ever since kindergarten all the way up to my senior year. My father worked for a Christian publishing company and was the reason why our family moved to Taiwan as missionaries. Barely knowing their own country, they also say that Taiwan is their home. I was able to meet people from various parts of the world: America, Italy, Australia, India, Kyrgyzstan, and much more. Surrounded by different cultures, the group diversity expanded my view of the world. Unlike many public schools in Taiwan, going to an international school opened a wide range of choices for me. Extracurricular activities interested me, and I joined sports and music classes. For me, music got my curiosity. Most children have music lessons arranged and overseen by their parents; I initiated on my own––rather than administered by my parents––to have piano lessons. I have continued to play the piano until now, and was also able to learn other instruments. Piano was the foundation for other instruments, and it helped me play the violin, flute, guitar, and drums. As I continued to play and listen to music, it actually helped me to improve my perfect pitch. I was able to play what I heard. While learning several instruments, it gave me many opportunities to serve my school. I was given the opportunity to be the accompanist for the choir, play violin for the musical, and serve in the worship
