Imagine having your baby stolen, unless you ordered the kidnapping. How would you feel after receiving the news? Welcome to the Lindbergh kidnapping case. The Lindbergh kidnapping was a mysterious kidnapping that involved 2 main people, the convicted Hauptman and the mysterious eugenicist Lindbergh. In the documentary it stated, “Lindbergh was a known Eugenicist which was the most concerning because he had a son with genetic issues.” In this Quote it shows how Lindbergh was a eugenicist (A person who believed in being a perfect human being, their main goal was to eliminate all hereditary diseases from the world.) This was terrible because his son had rickets which made Lindbergh uncomfortable since he was an Eugenicist, which is why he could have ordered the assassination and kidnapping of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. In the Day 3 Case Notes it shows that, “The father of the child who was kidnapped also known as Charles Augustus Lindbergh Junior. It is believed that Lindbergh hired Hauptman to kill or cover up his flawed son or he was giving him up to get experimented on.” In this quote, it shows that Lindbergh indeed had hired Hauptman to kill his baby or to get him out of the equation, or he wanted him to get experimented on. Furthermore, it was shown that he wanted to get rid of him because he was a flawed child. In conclusion of this paragraph, it shows how 2 sources show how Lindbergh used Hauptman to eliminate or get rid of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. These 2 sources more or less reveal the reasons for this crime in both sources. This was proven in case note 3 where it stated, “ Both Charles and Anne Morrow Lindbergh were called as witnesses. Charles testified that he recognized Hauptmann’s voice from the night that he and Condon had delivered the ransom money to the cemetery.” This source shows us how Charles and Anne heard, and recognized Hauptmann's voice while he was getting the ransom money, proving that he did do the kidnapping. This also makes a lot of sense because he was found with $14,000 in his house. In the Documentary it states that, “Microscopic analysis of ransom notes and a homemade ladder used to snatch Charles Jr. from his second-floor nursery delivered convincing evidence that linked Hauptmann to the kidnapping” This evidence shows that the ladder used for the kidnapping of Charles Augustus Lindbergh Jr. was actually fully homemade. It's also interesting because Hauptman used the same wood that was in his attic for the ladder. In both of these sources, they were talking about Hauptman and how he was guilty in more ways such as voice recognition and also the ladder used for the kidnapping.I came to the conclusion of this by the voice recognition and the missing pieces of wood in his attic. This also connected to the other pieces of evidence such as the $14,000 money and the criminal background he may also
