Tragic heroes are characters that make judgement errors that leads to their downfall or destruction. The tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet is a prime example of a tragic hero. Shakespeare portrayed Romeo and Juliet as victims that captured the audience's hearts. The book Inherit the wind written by Jerome Lawrence, and Robert E. Lee, is no love story, and the main character Matthew Harrison Brady is no Romeo; however Brady does meet Aristotle's criteria to be considered a tragic hero.
Justin Bieber is an example of a modern day tragic hero. Justin's error of judgement was revealed when he defaced a photo of the former president Bill Clinton. This is important because Justin is not even from America so the least he can do to support he country is to respect the presidents. Additionally, he experienced fate greater than deserved, when his mug shots were taken after his drag race under the influence.
Debi Mazar is an actress who stated, “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tried to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really, deeply cares.” Heroes are relevant to everyone, because at some point, everyone has had a hero. Sadly, today’s society degrades the meaning of the word “hero”. Heroes are an important aspect of life, but famous people are not always heroes.
While a literary device, tragic heroes also appear in real life. A perfect example of a real life tragic hero is Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury. This modern tragic hero started life as an orphan in poverty, living in the Caribbean, but his elevated character of exceptional literary skills, wit and progressive political ideas eventually landed him a spot as one of the most influential people in the United States. Alexander Hamilton had a positive hamartia, as he refused to remain quiet about the injustices of his country, oblivious to the danger it created for him and his family. The downfall of Hamilton occurred gradually.
In the Ancient Greek tradition, a tragedy includes Hamartia which is, Peripeteia, Nemesis and Hubris. Hamartia is the hero’s tragic flaws. Peripeteia is when the hero has a reversal of their fate, nemesis is the consequences of the hero’s actions and hubris is an overwhelming pride. An example of a tragic hero would be Walter White from Breaking Bad. Walter White goes from loving family man to a drug kingpin in a short couple of years, showing his ultimate undoing and demise.
It is still a mystery to Lloyd as to how Emil can come into the forest; he is a high ranking member of the followers of the God General of Fire and Darkness; it’s possible that he got permission from his god. However, Emil does look identical to the god in which he serves, so it’s possible for him to be the God General’s son; that would explain why he has such a high ranking position despite only being twenty six, also would explain why he stopped ageing at twenty one. Such a convent age makes Lloyd wonder if Emil is fudging his age a little; especially since he actually looks younger than Lloyd. And Emil has always loved red wine; in which annoyed Lloyd since he couldn’t report him when he first found Emil drinking wine; at least Emil never drinks enough to get drunk.
Although tragic heroes are meant for the literary world, they can also be applied to reality. For example, Princess Diana(Diana Spencer), is a modern-day tragic hero. She was born Diana Spencer and soon became Lady Diana Spencer when her father inherited the title Earl Spencer. She later married to the British throne, had two children, divorced, started to date Dodi Fayed, then died in a car crash in a tunnel trying to get away from the paparazzi. Diana was born into one of Great Britain’s oldest and most important families-the Spencers-making her an elevated character from the start.
A tragic figure can be someone who despite their attempts to have a good outcome gets faced with defeat, suffering, or an end. A great example of a tragic figure is Jay Gatsby from the novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald for several reasons. When first introduced you almost want to root for the guy but then slowly you learn more about him and you begin to see the tragedy start to brew. You start to feel bad for him because what initiated the point of no return was out of his control. Gatsby is a tragic figure in many ways, he was surrounded by people who didn’t truly care about him, he was led on by Daisy who he’d do anything for, and the people he cared about didn’t know the truth about him.

Tragic hero is usually the main character in the story which his/her wrong choices that are due to their personality cause their downfall. I hope this letter finds you well. It has been a while since I have last heard from you. Mom and I miss you here in the home front and we are waiting for the day the war finally ends and you get to come home. While thinking about how hard you and the other soldiers are fighting for us and our country, we wanted to find things we can do on the home front to make things better for when you all return. I know it must be extremely difficult in the war front, but I want you to know that all of us here are doing everything we can to help our nation win the war and bring our troops home.
The characters in Of Mice and Men all have original and unique characteristics inside of them, but no matter how different, they all have the same reactions of giving up when thinking about dreams. The main characters George and Lennie, recently unemployed migrant workers, move to a new ranch for work. Thrown into a cruel, misshapen life that doesn’t end well for the majority of characters, George and Lennie find themselves in a dilemma that seems all too familiar. John Steinbeck uses the characters in Of Mice and Men to show that dreams are fragile and they need friends to support them.
It is wrong to highlight only parts of a person’s life. A person may have done many great things that people know, yet could have done bad things people do not know. If you only know parts of a person you do not know who they truly. It is common to discuss heroes about their flaws and strengths side-by-side, but that should not be the main point of discussion. A hero 's past have many secretes in which it can change a person 's viewpoint on a hero or on villains as well.
A tragic hero is a literary character that makes a judgment error that leads to his or her downfall. Traditionally, a tragic hero is reserved only for the elite, or noble members of society. However, Miller believes that the common man is equally subject to tragedy as the highest kings are. In The Death of a Salesman, Arthur Miller portrays the protagonist, Willy Loman as a tragic hero. Willy Loman is a financially struggling man in his sixties looking for success for him and his family.
According to Arthur Miller a modern tragic hero , is an average man, who is willing to sacrifice his life to achieve one thing. Willy in "Death of a Salesman" is an example of modern tragic hero. His foolish pride and his persistence to achieve his dream, led to his tragic
