Mental health is a topic that many people relate to; in the book “List of Ten” written by Halli Gomez, the main character Troy faces many mental health struggles. In this book, the author creates a story by spreading awareness of mental health in a personal, relatable and inspiring story telling way. The plot of the book is entertaining, there's always something going on and it never gets overwhelming or boring. The characters in this book are very dimensional and relatable as the story progresses. The “List of Ten” is a recommended book because of the entertaining plot, the inspirational and relatable mental health awareness and the dimensional characterization. “The number ten has ruled his life for nearly a decade, and he's done with the pain, humiliation and loneliness. So, he made a list: nine goals to accomplish before the grand finale, commit suicide” the plot of this book is different from many other books, being the ultimate ending and goal of committing suicide. There is anticipation and suspense as the story goes along and Troy begins to cross things off of his list in such a short amount of time. Troy faces obstacles that make it hard for him to complete some of the things that he had put on his list. Troy was in a car driving his friends knowing that it would be dangerous for him to do so due to his TS, this led them to getting in trouble which meant troy couldnt work anymore which was where he got his money that he was saving up inorder to see his mom which was the ninth thing he had on his list that he needed to accomplish.although, at the end of this book troy manages to cross everything off of his list, only leaving to commit suicide left which begins to create a suspenseful scene as that is all he can do. He needs to accomplish however he changes his mind and decides to give life another chance, which eases the suspense and begins to form a lighthearted and emotional ending.
