The Elevator: Literacy Analysis

We all have fears in life,or at least things or places that makes us feel very uncomfortable. William Sleator shows that Martin is unable to overcome his fears by building suspense and showing that Martin tries to avoid the elevator. He is claustrophobic, paranoid, and may suffer from cacomorphobia and scopophobia. I have a fear of death and it’s called necrophobia.The reason I have a fear of death is because I don’t want to die.I don’t want to die because what is no one remembers me and also what if I die at an early age like when i’m in my 20’s or 30’s.An experience about death is that one day someone in my family was about to die and I got scared and ever since that day i’ve been scared of death.So …show more content…

Martin would get scared if the fat lady was on the elevator with him, and if she was just staring at him, so Martin also had the fear of scopophobia.’’Well she was on the elevator with me twice today. For Martin it was hard to get used to the elevator and to overcome it. He had many fears and it made him change a lot. He was so scared he would be scared of other things that weren 't even scary. People shouldn 't be scared, they should try to overcome their fear. Even though it may be scary at first it may be fun and you may feel better at
