“We gained control of many things but we had to let go of others” this is what the giver said to Jonas about the memories. ~Lois Lowry, the giver The Giver, by Lois Lowry, is mainly about Jonas (the receiver of memories, that receives these memories from the giver) The giver (the giver hold the memories from the community), and the community. The community is run by elders (the elders are like “rulers” or “dictators”). The people in the community are innocent, clueless of the bad things that go on around the community. The movie showed many special effects you wouldn't get from the book. In the middle of the movie there were holograms of the chief elder (the person with the most power over the community) she comes to the community to assign the community their jobs/career. I acknowledge the way it looked like a hologram but believable from the book it was confusing how it explained her being here but not being there. The movie gave me a better understanding that she was there in hologram form. The hologram flowed between real but fake it was believable the way she looked but knowing that it would be hard to be able to come in a hologram. The special effects in the movie were noticeable that they couldn't possibly be real but they looked real was why i think the movies special effects were very much more powerful than the book. The special effects all made sense to be where they are and why they are there. These special effects were very critical to the movie they showed detail, emotion, and explanation that the book couldn't.On of the special effects that was more powerful than the others was the one with rosemary (the previous receiver) playing the piano expt she wasn't there she was a hologram she was a projection of the the givers memories of her, she was playing the piano with the giver. The special effect makes the movie make more sense and makes connections and gives us a better idea of what rosemary looked like, acted, and sounded. This gives me a better idea of rosemary than what the book gave me. The special effect made the movie more powerful, and gave a better understanding of rosemary and who she was, the book was confusing and didn't give as much detail as the movie did. After reading the book and watching the movie I think the film is more powerful because the special effects in the
