The Olympic games have been around for a long time, and within that time they've shaped into something new. The Games have reformed especially in the aspect of who gets to compete. Firstly, the Olympic games hit some bumps in the road when the many different countries faced nationalism, like the conflict between the countries as a result of wanting to win. Secondly, there were people who wanted the games to return to bring peace, like the organizers of previous games. Also, there were some people who wanted the Olympic for financial reasons.
Sport in Australia, has always embodied the idea of equality, where everyone has the opportunity to participate. Background information (like cultural background), and barriers has never been a problem to affect ones participation. But recently over the years as more sports have been developed, and funding from the government has become harder to get a lot of people have struggled to participate in a chosen sport, especially athletics as it is the more costly sport. “Athletics is a sport stripped to its barest essentials, to run, walk, jump and throw is the basis of human activity”. For many centuries Australians have been known for success in a range of sport for example swimming, rowing and athletics.
Whenever the government gets involved it slows and distorts the effectiveness of any program and service. This because politicians are simply out of touch and laws are far too inflexible, and this in turn hinders beneficial new developments and drastic situational fluctuations. When culture is analyzed, and science is considered, boys are biologically more predisposed to engage in sports and highly vigorous activities in comparison to girls (par. 5). Thus, the implementation of entirely equal level of sport availability for both boys and girls is significantly
The reason that kids under the age of 18 should continue to be allowed to play contact sports is because participating in contact sports can help to give kids confidence, self-esteem,leadership and a bunch of other skills that can be put on to child development that can help the child to open up and be better at things like football, tennis, basketball and many more, and it will also help then to have good sports-men ship. In other words, participation in contact sports can help to improve health and wellness in the children and youths at an early age, as in the text it says '' Many people who grew up playing sports often continue to play recreational or competitive leagues as adults, contributing to overall health and well-being throughout
1997 Sport England is focused on helping people and communities across the country create a sporting habit for life Sport England is working to increase the number of people who play football regularly and they aim to make lives better through sport. Currently over 15.5 million people play sport once a week, every week. That is over 1.4 million more than when London won the bid to host the 2012 Games but they want this number to increase. They are particularly focused on getting more 14-25-year-olds and disabled people playing sport once a week with sports including football.
The importance of children’s athletics is for kids to have fun. When the child stops getting enjoyment out of the sport, then it is the parent’s job to take them out. Sports can have many positive effects on a child’s life, but it is important to remember too much of a good thing can make it a hurtful thing. As the culture of youth athletics spirals out of control, it is the parent’s responsibility to save the child from short-term and, unfortunately, long-term damage. Parents need to evaluate how far they are willing to go for youth athletics and when they will have taken their obsession too
Pre 1960, sport in the UK required little or no government involvement. It was mainly organised by amateur sports clubs. The findings of the Wolfenden Report, published in 1960, recommended a spotlight on young people’s involvement in sport, sports facilities to be developed in order to help increased sport provision and improvement in the coaching and administration of sport. More importantly, it warned of the concern about the drop off in participation between school based sport and club based/adult sport attendance. 1960-1990, saw the increase in the development of sports facilities, such as local authority leisure centres and swimming pools.
All children should participate in sports to improve their health, communication skills with other children and even to improve relationships with close friends and family. 40% of Australian children do not participate in any sports outside of school and 25% of Australian children are overweight or obese. This puts the child’s health in danger and also affects other aspects of their lives. Sports can improve a child’s self esteem and can let them develop in something they may never have thought of doing before. Over all, children should participate in sports to develop themselves further in life.
Youth athletics takes away from the child’s chance of discovering what they truly love; they could really enjoy something other than sports. If a child spends every Saturday at a competition and drives an hour every night for a practice that will last 3 or more hours, they will never get the chance to try new things; all of their time is consumed by the sport they are playing. A child could be great at performing and acting in plays, but they will never know because they were pushed into athletics before they got the chance to explore all of their options. The person who could cure cancer, may never get the chance to explore the opportunities science offers him/her. By forcing children into sports at young ages, parents have cancelled out
Even after the 2012 London Olympic Games, many positive aspects continue to benefit individuals and businesses in the United Kingdom. For example, following the Olympic Games, the structure built for the event was renamed Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and then used for numerous sporting events. In fact, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is one of the largest parks built in western Europe in the last 150 years. Some surprising park benefits also include its mission to preserve the local environment, namely its wetlands and threatened plants. While the legacy of the 2012 Olympic Games continues benefiting the environment and surrounding community, the facility also provides additional resources to the area’s infrastructure.
Dr. Frank L. Smoll states, “All children and youth need vigorous physical activity as part of their daily lives, and sports provide the benefits of exercise and the potential for acquiring a sense of accomplishment.” (Smoll 1/2).
Sports show children that discipline and playing by the rules are incredibly valuable assets. Sports also show that breaching the rules and cheating will only set you back. " Strong discipline underpins our sport. We ensure that our sport is one of controlled physical endeavour and that we are honest and fair. We obey the laws of the game which ensure an inclusive and exciting global sport.
To most kids and students, competitive sports are a gateway to blow off some steam or to have fun. To parents, the sports that their children play and the lessons that they teach are an important part of their development and life. Despite what many ‘experts’ would like you to believe, both of these statements are completely true. I believe that kids should be allowed to play competitive sports due to the health benefits, the lessons that they can teach, and as a result of the advanced equipment and rules that are focused on making sports safe, as well as the fact that sports can keep kids out of trouble. One extremely important reason that forces me to take the position that kids should be allowed to compete in competitive sports is the health benefits that children who play sports recieve.
The amount of children participating in competitive sports has been on a steady decline in the past decade. Between the years of 2008 and 2013, the total number of children participating in competitive sports has dropped by approximately 2.6 million. This is mainly due to the many negative impacts that young athletes face when partaking in these sports. Competitive sports involve sports where competition is encouraged, and where winning is more important than anything else. Competing in these sports causes the children to be vulnerable to many risks and many other negative impacts.
A Critical Analysis of the Socioeconomic Impact of The Olympic Games Introduction: The Olympic Games are one of the best examples of a global sporting mega-event.
