On Wednesday, February 1, 2017, Chino Hills High School was out of power, resulting all the students got released early. I walked into the school campus about to sit at the normal table that I wait at. I usually get to school thirty minutes early because of traffic. I did notice something was off when I sat down. The area where I sat was a bit darker than usual.
Growing up in Capital Heights, Maryland was never easy. At the time the crime in that City was to me, at its peak, there were shootings, robbing’s, and bad influences around every corner. Every day I got up early and walked out my little house sitting firmly on the hill, down the street to John Edgar Howard Elementary, the school I attended at the time. Yes, the neighborhood was rough, but I was fortunate enough to have a strong support system. My Grandmother made sure to wake me up every morning to haul me of to school where I would meet my loving, devoted teachers and coaches.
I attended Henry E. Lackey High School in Indian Head MD which is in Charles County MD I attended Lackey High School my ninth and both my tenth grade years around the beginning of 2016. My last month in Lackey High School was in February, before I left Cousin Jerry and the PPW from my high school told me about Job Corps. I couldn’t stay at Lackey because of the drama going on and my cousin knew Job Corps could provide me with a high school diploma and provide direction for my life. At Lackey High School I was constantly in trouble arguing, being defiant about the rules, and not attending class.
How life goes on we experience a lot of things that can either teach us an important lesson or nothing at all. I have learned more than one lesson in my life, but there’s one that I will always keep in mind to help others like it helped me. Thanks to John Tyler High School Drill Team I have self-confidence and courage to do risky things that I never thought I would be doing. Now I believe in myself and I don’t let fear dull my success, I fight for what I want until I get it even if it take a long time, I don’t give up that easy anymore.
High school was a roller coaster ride for me, from the endless fun of parties to the minor breakdowns and panic attacks that would land myself in the hospital. The pressure and stress got to me and the fact that failing out of the school that I’ve been going to for twelve years with long life friends was coming to an end. Now that I look back at it though it might have been the best decision for my well-being because then I would of not been able to meet the people that I met at Chamblee Charter High School. You would think moving from a private to a public school would be a big cultural shock, you are very correct. Atlanta International School, which was the school I went for basically my whole life, was a very open minded, well rounded, and accepting establishment since the most of the students where from all over the world.
When I started Unity High School I thought that it was going to be boring school because my first choice was Skyline but my mom made me come to this school so I had to obey what my mom wants because she takes care of me and helps me with whatever I need help with so going to the school that she wanted me to go to was the least I could have done. I thought that high school was going to be difficult because the work that my brother would bring home when he was in high school looked really hard and I did not understand most of the work he needed to complete. In order to be able to study how people interact with each other, sociologists have many tools which they use to break down and analyze interactions within society. A particularly important tool is the use of theories. Theories are a framework in which we use to evaluate how people interact within society. To begin, a sociologist must be able to identify which theory to use and determine if it is applicable depending on whether it is micro- or macrosociology. An appropriate theory to apply when analyzing dating is a micro-level theory specifically known as symbolic interactionism.
Abigail Thorn, creator of the YouTube channel, Philosophy Tube, creates videos that have to do with ethical dilemmas, social theories, and art. Among these videos is The Hidden Rules of Modern Society, which covers different theories such as the social contract theory, the sexual contract theory, and critical race theory. Thorn starts The Hidden Rules of Modern Society with the introduction of the social contract theory and then moves on to the next topic: The sexual contract theory. Lastly, Thorn ends the video with an explanation of critical race theory. Overall, Thorn explains each theory and then compares them with each other, mainly to further explain and analyze what exactly the theories are saying.
