Loneliness In John Steinbeck's Of Mice And Men

A lot of people don't really understand how much everybody coming together and being there for each other affects one and other a lot of the times discrimination and selectivity are a big cause of loneliness . Three characters that represent loneliness the best are Lennie , Candy , and Crooks and the following paragraphs are why . Isolation from others because of something that can not be controlled can often leave somone lost and depressed. Crooks was mistreated and isolated from everybody else because he is black . He never received the same amount of respect as the others. Crooks says “cause i'm black. They play cards in there but i cant play because i'm black . They say i stink .” (steinbeck 34). this is something crooks is used to he knows that there's certain stuff he can't do because he's black and it bothers him . (steinbeck 12) Lennie's dream was to make george happy and to tend the rabbits . in the book it stated “the rabbits were gonna get and i get to tend em “(steinbeck 69) lennie never lost faith he always dreamed of the rabbits and no matter what crooks or anyone said he believed that george would make that dream come true . Lennie killing curley's wife impacted his dream the most lennie stated “i don't want you to yell you gonna get me in trouble jus like george said you would “ (steinbeck 91) lennie was so scared of disappointing george that he didn't realize he was killing her this impacted his dream because it left george with no other option but to kill
