Out of the three opportunities mentioned in this discussion, the one that sticks out the most is the inclusion of nutrition items on the menu. Long John Silver’s biggest opportunity for inclusion of nutrition items is adding baked items to their menu. Sociocultural trends today are leaning toward a healthier lifestyle, foods cooked in trans fat oil adds to problems (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Long John Silver’s closed several locations due to low sales caused by alleged allegations about cooking with trans fat oil (Nelson, 2014). If the opportunity of inclusion of nutrition items is not met it could lead to a threat, to Long John Silver’s (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). New combos could give Long John Silver’s a generic competitors edge over McDonald’s and Burger Kings fish sandwiches (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014). Adding to offers like mentioned, discounts and coupons could help Long John Silver’s with economic growth (Ferrell & Hartline, 2014).
