The United States has one of the highest alcohol abuse rates compared to other first world countries. American culture has gotten out of hand with alcohol. It is very often seen that after a strenuous day people want to relax themselves with a drink. As a result, people use alcohol as a coping mechanism, which can be one of the worst things for not just one’s body but for those around them as well. In America people very quickly learn that alcohol is associated with celebration or bad times. This illusion that alcohol is a thing of luxury should be changed, or else it will produce dire consequences. After a lifetime of alcoholism it really takes a toll on the brain, the liver, and the body as a whole. Alcoholism has also led to innumerable unnecessary deaths. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, “An estimated 95,000 people die from alcohol related causes annually.” The number of deaths due to alcohol is depressingly high. Not only is the death toll count high, but the amount of people who develop liver diseases due to alcoholism is becoming increasingly more dangerous each year. The long term use of alcohol and binge drinking causes the body to suffer tremendously. Alcohol does not just only affect the body, what makes alcohol so dangerous is it affects the brain too. Alcohol can be a dangerous addiction with many risks to your overall health. The things it can make you do are uncanny. Thankfully there are places where those who are affected by the curse of alcohol use disorder can go to better themselves. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism there are a number of places to go for treatment, such as; a hospital, a rehabilitation center, a mental health center, an ED, a private doctor’s office, a self help group, and even prison. These are all places that can hopefully change someone’s life for the better, and make them realize they never needed alcohol and do not need it. Rehab can be a wonderful thing for those who need help. For an addiction as potent as alcohol treatment is nothing to be ashamed of, or embarassed about if it is a necessity in
