Is alcohol evil? During the 1920’s, the banning of alcohol affecting society in many ways. The horrors of World War 1 left people scarred. Prohibition made selling or producing alcohol illegal. This led to job loss and increased crime.

In both ancient Greece and modern American society, people who drink alcohol are punished. No matter the degree of the punishment, there are consequences to drinking alcoholic beverages. The consequence to drinking could be as minor as giving away valuable gifts to strangers or as grave as taking another person's or one's own life. Alcohol impairs the function of the brain which, in turn, makes someone vulnerable to any harm. Although many things have changed from ancient Greece up to today's modern society, the consequences that follow alcohol are quite similar.
The Impact of Alcoholism on Children Alcoholism is a chronic disease distinguished by the misuse of alcohol. People with alcoholism depend on alcohol mentally and physically and have issues controlling their alcohol intake. Due to this, people with the disease can not only suffer themselves but also impact their families. An exceptional example of a child suffering from an alcoholic parent is the memoir The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.
The drug use in Brave New World is very similar to today's society. In Brave New world they use the drug Soma. Whereas in others alcohol is simply banned for religious reasons. During the 1920’s, Prohibition was, orthe Eighteenth Amendment, was the controversy that everyone had an opinion on. The first section of the Eighteenth Amendment states that after the first year of being ratified, “the manufacture, sale, or transportation of alcohol” or the product being imported or exported of the United States was hereby prohibited.
Alcohol intoxication has been the subject of anxiety from the start of its history to its present. The level of intoxication can range from mild to severe, and alcohol poisoning requires medical attention and can lead to death. Intoxication has been around since beverages were first fermented and distilled, and alcohol played important roles in cultures. Intoxication on the other hand, has been frowned upon and there have been many anxieties associated with it throughout history. This is seen in Greece, Rome, American, and Native cultures, where intoxication was illegal, thought to be the reason for violence and promiscuity, and was considered a health risk.
It affects the individual physical and mentally. Alcoholism is incurable and fatal. The group leader was very humorous and stated that many people who are nonalcoholic called alcoholics weak, crazy, and a sinner. Within describing the group dynamics, the reader’s tone of voice wasn’t clear and it was hard to hear them. The leader of the group was outstanding.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services acknowledges that there are 10 million teens in the United States drinking regularly and over 20 percent binge drink. ( Teen Alcoholism). This information illustrates the dependence that teens have developed for alcohol and many of them don 't even know the issue that they are building for themselves. The signs that demonstrate that a teen is becoming or is addicted to alcohol are that he/ she is a heavy drinker, they drink regularly for no reason and becoming upset over the removal of accessibility of alcohol.
