The effects of modern day technology and inventions on the human brain have shown many pros and cons to the way the human mind works. Technology is one of such human inventions that has created this dazzling new research and effect on the mind. While this can be a good thing and is interesting to learn about, the long term effects of newfound technologies on the human brain will have negative effects on how we receive stimuli and perceive information. This can be shown by the loss of complex thoughts or the difficulty with which it becomes to perceive deep concepts, the inability to remain focused on one thing for a long period of time, and loss of memory retention. Source three’s “attached to Technology and Paying a Price” by Matt Richtel states “Scientists say… our ability to focus is being undermined by bursts of information.” This is stating that the time spent and used on technology reduces cognitive functioning such as ability to focus. It also states in source two “Is Google Making Us Stupid” where it states that by using technology human beings become “scatterbrained”, meaning that human beings become inattentive and forgetful usually caused by a lack of focus on a topic or the current situation.
