My chosen career path at this point in life is to be an Executive Director for a Long Term care Nursing Facility. In the world of for-profit Long Term Care Nursing, everything has a dollar amount associated with it. The average cost of a LTC Nursing facility in the state of Maryland is about $7k per month; unfortunately, people are not able to pay out of pocket this amount of money and the financial burden can tear families apart when coming to the decision that their loved one can no longer care for themselves. Financial concerns should be the least of a families concerns when making such a life altering decision. Nowadays the LTC Nursing facility does not just cater to the needs of the elderly but to also a much younger populations who are
The main aim of every study is to find solutions to a certain problem in the society. It is through the understanding of certain challenges in the nursing profession and society in general that long lasting solutions can be realized. The purpose of this paper is to critically analyze and summarize the results of a qualitative and quantitative peer reviewed articles discussing the issue of hospital readmission and patient education. Qualitative study Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) is a chronic, serious and pricey health condition with a huge medical, social and economic impact. Caring for patients with heart failure is not only about treating the disease’s physical symptoms; it involves educational, supportive, emotional, and cooperative care
California Supreme Court Clarifies Long Term Care Act’s Application to Release of Confidential Information The California Supreme Court has clarified the application of the Long-Term Care Act’s disclosure requirements in consideration of Welfare and Institutions Code section 5328’s general prohibition against the release of information contained in the course of providing treatment to mentally ill and developmentally disabled individuals. In State Dept. of Public Health v. Superior Court (2015) 60 Cal.4th 940, the Supreme Court considered the issue of whether the disclosure requirements of the Long-Term Care Act (LTCA) or Welfare and Institutions Code section 5328 applied where a public records request was made for health records. The case involved the Center for Investigative Reporting, a news organization investigating the treatment of mentally ill and developmentally disabled in state owned health care facilities, which issued a public records request to the Department of Public Health (DPH) for copies of all citations issued to the facilities it was investigating.
Therefore, an phenomena of interest is to investigate how a comprehensive heart failure educational follow- up program will aid in decreasing hospital readmissions within 30 days of discharge?
One Mission Two Methods My academic service learning was completed at two sites the first being the Cliffside Rehabilitation & Residential Health Care Center in Flushing NY. The second site was the Ozanam Hall Nursing Home located in Bayside NY. I decided to do an ASL report over a business report in order to get a feel of an industry I could potentially form a career in as a health and human services major. The reason I chose to complete my ALS at two different locations was because I thought it would allow me to gain a better perspective on how two facilities with same agenda could be run differently. Another reason was the distance from my house to my first choice in Cliffside was too far for a second trip.
Management of Care Case Study Josepha is working on a medical surgical unit with three other RNs and one LPN. There is also a male and a female patient care tech. Josepha has been a nurse for four months, and after completing two months of orientation she takes a full assignment as a registered nurse. Josepha feels that the assignments she receives are not always fair, as she tends to get the most challenging clients.
She is transferred to a long-term care facility for intravenous antibiotics, ventilator weaning, and rehabilitation (Prizio, n.d.). Annette’s goals by
When identifying areas which are affected, the problem spans from lack of assistance with activities of daily living, to major medical errors. One study focused on improved resuscitation rates related to appropriate nurse to patient ratios. Those involved in the study site the American Heart Association’s “chain of survival” to directly correlate their evidence. “Better Nurse Staffing and Nurse Work Environments Associated with Increased Survival of In-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Patients” argues that nurses with an appropriate patient load are able to make contact with their patients more frequently, and for longer periods of time, giving those with a potential for cardiac arrest a more “timely response” to their cardiac event. Since “timely response” is the initial phase in the “chain of survival”, the subsequent steps are more likely to yield favorable outcomes.
People working in the field of medicine learn many methods to prevent an illness from spreading. One of the most important component of the health care field is knowing how to help a disease or illness from spreading from one person to another. Long-term care is especially important for those who need assistant for their daily living. Many of these things are what helps determine the needs for more health care workers.
My purpose of writing this rhetorical situation is to inform. I hope to inform the readers about the drastic increase of childhood obesity and diabetes within America’s population. I will analyze this topic, separate it into the two types of obesity, and tell how those are affecting the population. I will also discuss the factors that are contributing to obesity and how both type 1 and 2 diabetes rates within children are increasing every year. I will be sure to discuss how the reader can help to decrease these rates and what America needs to do as a whole to change the youth population.
My Nursing Experience at Countryvilla Rehabilitation My nursing experience has been very busy for the past 6 years. I received my LVN license back in 2010 and got my first job at Countryvilla Rehabilitation in Arcadia as a Charge Nurse. I was very excited since it will be my first nursing job and it’s close to home.
Systems Dynamic Overview Systems Dynamic may seem like just another difficult technical term; however, it can be a relatively simple concept to grasp and apply when explained in everyday terms. Systems are a part of your daily life whether you realize it or not. For example, all are a part of a family or maybe a member of a social group. Those relationships are influenced or impacted by choices and changes made within the group. These groups and relationships represent a system that can be dynamic and or complex at times; as many of us know from experience.
As Mrs. A was over the age of 60 and would be in bed for a prolonged amount of time she would need an air mattress which was ordered and put on the bed before she come. This would help prevent pressure damage. Once Mrs. A was on the ward the trust policy says that a number of assessment are to be done within four hours. These include; • Waterlow • MUST assessment • Sepsis
My goal is to become a Paleontologist one day and travel the world collecting new fossils everyday. I have chosen this career because I have wanted to be a Paleontologist since I was 13 or 14 years old, the job has just always caught my attention. I think the thing that interests me the most about this career is that dinosaurs bones are fossils and I’ve always loved dinosaurs, the history behind them and digging them up from stone. I think I would be successful at this career because I have a passion for it, so I would show improvement and excel in many parts of the career. I would enjoy what I’m doing so my attitude toward everything would positive.
