Lord Byron Lord Byron is mainly known for being the heir of Rochdale, England, but the people who know him for his poetry, may not know how he became the poet that they know and appreciate. Lord Byron was once known as George Gordon, which one would not look at twice. Many may know him for his place on the throne in Rochdale, and some may know him for his poetry but many do not know the true life of the Nobleman. In London, England during the year 1800 was the peak of the Romantic period of poetry, from Lord Byron to Edgar Allan Poe. The time was a time of strife, one may believe, all over the world. Catherine herself had stewerts blood in her. Her father commuited suicide when she was young, this left a mark on her forever. That being said John had been married before Catherine and had a daughter, Augusta Leigh, with his former wife. When he married Catherine it was her responsibility to care for the child. Byron never had that innocent love, he always had something more. I believe that he longed for this type of love, and that was his inspiration. The style of this certain poem is a very romantic style and it stays very true to his time period. A very big part of this poem is the repeated AB, CD, EF pattern. The other element that is huge in this poem is the language used like o’er. All of the parts of this poem fit together very well in the way that the poem is made. Another of Byron's poems that is very influential to me is “And Thou art Dead, as Young and Fair”. I have thought deeply about this poem and it seems to have the same meaning as Edgar Allan Poe's “Annabelle Lee”. It is about a young love and the breaking of that love by death. Byron in this poem talks about how the woman was fair and young and that he would do anything to hold her again, It has a sweet meaning and it carries a dark theme but in a light way and holds on to that feeling of warmth. He holds on to his love in this poem. Even though it seems like a true love scenario i think this is showing the death of feeling he has for a woman or this poem talks about his
