Cassy’s superior intellect enables her to study Simon carefully revealing his fears and superstitions, weapons she used to defeat him. Cassy uses an attic in the old house to her advantage. This attic is believed to be haunted by a negro woman who was confined in it by Legree himself. She was out up there after being disobedient. The servants of Legree don’t know what happened exactly, but they do know that her body was taken down from it and buried.
1) Analytically speaking, Connell has split the story into two sections. The first half is composed of a hefty amount of foreshadowing and the second section that is composed of mainly, action. This makes for a great ride of suspense because the dual elements culminate providing a suspense filled experience. Quite early on, we are brought into Connell’s foreshadowing methodology. On the first page Whitney alludes events that suggest the foreshadowing of an ominous turn of events.

In Chapter 7 of, “Lord of the Flies,” the boys recreate the scene of hunting down the boar, which is transforming them into kids that are willing to face fears. This behavior between all the boys is ritualistic and extremely important. The recreation of hunting down the boar with Ralph trying fighting to get a handful of the flesh and Jack trying to finish off the pig, really describes an act of ritualistic behavior between the boys. During this recreation, Robert acts as the pig and all of the other boys swing at Robert with twigs. This reenactment gets out of hand quickly.

Many movies that we see in the movie theaters now are an adaptation of books from the past. We have many famous examples such as Spiderman comic to Spiderman Homecoming and Doom the video game was made into a Movie starring Dwayne Johnson. Linda Hutcheon defines adaptation in “Beginning to Theorize Adaptation” as " repetition, but repetition without replication" (7). What Hutcheon is stating is that all adaptation might be copied, but it will not be the same as the original. Many adaptations can exist from comic to movie, book to movie or game to movie, but not all adaptations are successful, since most of what is done in a book or game can require a huge budget to bring to reality.
Immediately they call a meeting, in which Jack calls Ralph out, wanting to vote him out of power. Baffled by this, no boy vetoed Ralph, and in spite of him, Jack marches off angrily to make his own group. When his hunters later joined him, they offered a pig’s head on a stick to the beast, like a peace offering; this became known as the Lord of the Flies. This is where Simon comes into play. Simon meets the Lord of the Flies, which is like Satan, and he is getting tormented and fell into a daze.
Isabel Carter Mr. Sgourdos Humanities 9 11/26/2017 What thematic message about human nature is portrayed in Lord of the Flies? How is evil portrayed in this novel? “Human nature is evil, and goodness is caused by intentional activity,” states Xun Kuang, a Chinese Confucian philosopher. Although historians believe that there is so much good in human nature, William Golding’s Lord of the Flies illustrates human nature to be naturally evil through Jack’s actions, Simons encounter with the lord of the flies, and the primitive nature that controls the schoolboys when they are taken out of civilization.
The first chapter of lord of the flies introduces its themes of primitivity, innocence, and dissolution of order (savagery) in a way that allows readers to make comparisons between the book's characters and setting before and after they develop. Primitivity is primarily shown when the boys arrive at the island. Instead of setting obligations for themselves immediately like an adult might, they see only the freedom that they have and indulge in it with great relish. This enthusiasm is demonstrated most noticeably when Ralph begins to explore a part of the island in the first scene of the novel: "he became conscious of the weight of clothes...and stood there naked, looking at the dazzling beach and water" (Golding 10).
In chapter ten of Lord of the Flies Piggy is focused on due to his specs. First of all Jack makes a plan to steal his glasses in the middle of the night. Of course the children that are under Jack's ruling do not protest and go along with it. They all had a thing against Piggy because of his size, but Jack goes out of his way as much as possible to make the larger child feel terrible about himself. Secondly the boys hear noises in the night that are not like the usual sounds form the wind and animals.
He is so caught up in this moment that he does not care about being saved, but rather he cares about killing instead. This indicates that his civility has begun to degenerate. However, Jack looks at the blood on his hands and is still disgusted by it, showing that he has not completely changed into a different person. Jack continues to morph into a new person as he begins to see hunting as a more important task than anything
