Theme: The theme is isolation because the whole novel is centered on a group of stranded boys on an island. The only way of getting out is by someone saving them. Later on, a naval officer saves them. This was because he saw the fire.
Point of view: The point of view is 3rd person omniscient.
Style: The style is a novel.
Tone: The tone is hopeful. The boys hope to get off the island. They have no way of getting out. Only a person can save them.
Irony:
-The group of British boys are supposed to symbolize the growth of society however, they turn into wild, bloodthirsty creatures.
-Simon learns the truth of the dead body (the pilot). He goes down the mountain, toward the boys to tell them the news however, he is killed. This shows the sense of authority is lost.
