The message that the author has presented for this theme is that the viewer may go through many tragedies only to find out that happiness isn’t the result of being happy, but it is the journey that makes them happy. Janie is finally able to explore what makes her happy besides being with a man.
Her anecdote comes to tell of her story of growing to understand that life doesn't need many wants to be at peace with it, it’s all about letting it come to them through a simple task or hobby such as reading, just as her dad
What situations caused these emotions? She felt bad that her oldest son had to wear the same clothes over and over. Depressed from the meeting she had with the social worker, because it didn’t go the way she intended it to. Worried if she can provide for her family once she stops receiving government assistance. Also hopeful that a new job will be the start for something better for her family.
she asked. “Do? Nothing, except feel glad and happy to be alive” (78). If she felt these positive emotions, why did she not start over again with
The girl’s parents thought it was great that she was willing to go, but they don’t see know in the story how she likes to
Examining one’s life can bring many joys. There are many things that give people the idea that their lives are meaningful. These ideas could be the pursuit of pleasure and happiness, entertainment, sports, power and money, possessions and security, being famous and success, meeting other people, knowledge and every other thing that can give the smallest amount of happiness to the person. In the apology Plato describes Socrates’ venture to question people would were wise and content with their wisdom, but when they asked a series of questions to test their wisdom they were revealed not to be wise and were now upset. The flaw in that was that these people did not examine what had happened to them and did not learn from it.
While reading the story, you can tell in the narrators’ tone that she feels rejected and excluded. She is not happy and I’m sure, just like her family, she wonders “why her?” She is rejected and never accepted for who she really is. She is different. She’s not like anyone else
She was saddened to realise this and therefore felt ashamed. As a result, she realised that she should be
The Pursuit of Happiness Who I am today has primarily been dictated by the environment in which I have been raised. I will continue to be molded throughout my life, but now I am entering a period of my life where I will be the one deciding who I am. Today, I am not the person I want to be and not the person who many perceive me to be, but am striving to become the man I want to be. In my life, I constantly find myself trying to balance friends, family, school, and sports.
She felt “light and good in the warm sun” (L8). To her young and inexperienced mind, “nothing existed for her but her song,” (L8) which just goes to show how oblivious and careless she is to her surroundings and worlds greater than her own. On the contrary, as she made her way a “mile or more from home,” (L23) she began to hit a turning point. The comfortable world at which she knew is now cracked open and unguarded.
“You are going on a journey!” Anyone would be thrilled after hearing those words, specially coming from a palm reader. Such is the case when Anjali tells Hector that he will embark on a life changing journey, at first he questions her while simultaneously looking excited like a child. He eventually decides to heed the prediction and goes off on a journey across the world in order to help his patients with more efficiency and to understand the concept of happiness with more depth while inadvertently seeking his own. In his quest, Hector stumbles upon the realization that happiness is subjective, not something that has a universal meaning.
“The good life is one inspired by love and guided by knowledge”, says the British philosopher and social critic Bertrand Russell. It is clear that such a mere definition of good life would not be enough if we wanted to thoroughly discuss on happiness, which at the end of the day constitutes the main notion attributed to having a good life. But what is happiness then? Is it simply a relative state of mind or something more related to a possible universal definition about it? There are seven billion people living out there, and that is a fact.
In Aristotle’s Nicomachean Ethics, the concept of happiness is introduced as the ultimate good one can achieve in life as well as the ultimate goal of human existence. As Aristotle goes on to further define happiness, one can see that his concept is much different from the 21st-century view. Aristotelian happiness can be achieved through choosing to live the contemplative life, which would naturally encompass moralistic virtue. This differs significantly from the modern view of happiness, which is heavily reliant on material goods. To a person in the 21st-century, happiness is simply an emotional byproduct one experiences as a result of acquiring material goods.

She then struggled to leave her boyfriend because of fear of him. The struggle I went through as a child has given me the desire to be more. My past has given me the hunger to fight for my future and the focus to succeed. My childhood was a fight. I have memories of carrying buckets of water for my
