I recently read an interesting article called 21 Lost Gentleman Traditions That Still Apply Today. Some of the lost traditions mentioned include: a gentleman will stand when a lady enters the room, he will pull her chair out for her, he does not walk ahead of her. What make a man a genuine gentleman? Is it a list of do's and don'ts?

Many times, you will hear "chivary is not dead." But ask any lady if there are still genuine gentlemen in the world and see what she says. The truth is, an authentic gentleman is not something that can be taught with mere outward actions like holding a door open for a lady or giving his coat when she is cold. Men today know the fastest way to woo a lady are with kind deeds. The issue is simple but not an easy fix. The reason that a gentleman is few and far between is because our culture today is one of selfish gratification, which is the arch nemesis to the gentleman.

A genuine gentleman is selfless in everything he does. He does not expect anything in return for what he does, but he gives from out of his love for others. He desires to help and serve others before himself, and he will do anything possible to comfort those around him. This is not just for that single miss' he is trying to woo, but, to anyone woman he comes in contact with. It is an inward spirit that drives him to put others before himself.

A genuine gentleman has patiences. He is not easily angered and he is always tender in his words. He knows that if his words are not carefully chosen they can be very detrimental to a woman. He speaks little and listens often with cosideratation of those around
