Bernard de la Harpe was in charge of organizing the second French expedition. The objective behind doing this, was to regain fortune of the Louisiana territory. La Harpe had received concessions of the Louisiana land in 1718. The French officials authorized Bernard de la Harpe to lead this expedition. Louis then went into the military and became a Sargent in the US military. He served for four years in the army. Then he decided to make his living as a casino host in Las Vegas, Nevada.
There is such a mystery that surrounds the migration of the Loomis Family. The journey from their familiar life in England to an uncertain future in New England was not easy. However, it all started in 1585 when Robert White married Bridget Allgar and had a daughter named Mary White. Robert White was a rich man who was friendly to non-conformists at the time which was rather odd considering the time period; nonetheless, their daughter was baptized in 1590. Then several years later in 1614, three years before her father’s death, Mary White married Joseph Loomis a successful cloth merchant in Braintree, England.
Lewis Howard Latimer was born September 4th 1848, in Chelsea, Massachusetts. He was famous because his contribution to the creation and patenting of the light bulb and other inventions such as the telephone. He was the youngest of four children and born to George and Rebecca Latimer. Six years before he was born Lewis Latimer’s father George Latimer was captured in Boston as a fugitive. He was defended and eventually he was able to purchase freedom with help from a local minister.

Peter Lalor was the leader of the Eureka Stockade in 1854. He was born on February 5th of 1827 in Queen’s County, Ireland. His name ‘Lalor’ originated from the ‘O’Lalour’s, who fought against the English invasion of Ireland in the 1500’s. His family owned and leased almost 1000 acres of land and it provided prosperity until the Great Famine in 1845. His father led the resistance of peasants against the taxes collected by the Church and represented Queen’s County in the House of Commons.

Lou" Holtz (born January 6, 1937) is a former college football analyst for ESPN as well as a former football coach. He served as the head football coach at The College of William & Mary (1969–1971), North Carolina State University (1972–1975), the University of Arkansas (1977–1983), the University of Minnesota (1984–1985), the University of Notre Dame (1986–1996), and the University of South Carolina (1999–2004), compiling a career record of 249–132–7. Holtz 's 1988 Notre Dame team went 12–0 with a victory in the Fiesta Bowl and was the consensus national champion. John Robert Lewis was born February 21,1940, Outside of Troy, Alabama. John Robert Lewis had a happy childhood, even though he needed to work hard to assist his sharecropper parents be he chafed against the unfairness of segregation. As I sat down with John Robert Lewis and among my other peers he shared with us everything about his childhood, his job as a sharecropper was to raise the chickens. He did he job very good and he enjoyed raising them chickens. Him and his siblings would gather the chickens all together and John Lewis would preach as of the chickens knew what he was saying.
Lavinia Fisher, a well-known name among Charleston’s residences and Ghost enthusiast. Her name carries a bleak legend being one of the first female serial killer sparking an interested with popular paranormal television, even with so little actually being true events. Her story, even though over 200 years later, have captivated those engrossed in the dreary tales that surround the Charlestonian culture. The legend of Lavinia, like most legends, indicate what charlestonian closely identify with, in this case being religious. There is little known about Lavinia fisher, until adulthood, however, it is known that she was born in Charleston in 1793.
The legendary Virginia State University Historically black colleges and universities are founded almost everywhere in the United States. During the time of the Civil War, in the South of the United States, there were no higher education systems for African American students. “Particularly, with the 13th amendment abolition of slavery and reconstruction in the South, things began to change.” (“The History of Historically”) “In 1862, Senator Justin Morrill spearheaded a movement to improve the state of higher education throughout the United States, putting emphasis on the need for institutions to train Americans in the applied sciences, agriculture and engineering”.
Shirley Jackson has written many good short stories. These short stories include “The Lottery” and “Charles”. In these up coming paragraphs I will talk about all the differences and similarities of both these short stories. Both Charles and The Lottery have interesting Plot twists. The lottery’s plot twist being that the winner of The Lottery is sacrificed to ensure a better harvest.
