Louis Armstrong said,” What we play is life”. Jazz and music was all that Louis Armstrong found life in. As a result of that he inspired and put so much thought in the music he made, which made him great. Most people considered Louis Armstrong one of the most influential artists in jazz history. He even laid the foundation for modern jazz!
Background
He was born on August 4, 1901 – July 6, 1971 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His parents were Mary Albert, and William Armstrong. His siblings were Beatrice Armstrong, William Armstrong, and Henry Armstrong. He grew up in a poor family but it didn't stop him from becoming famous and fulfilling his dreams as a singer, trumpet player, and actor. Even today people listen to his songs and see him as a great role model and a successful individual. …show more content…

He played and enjoyed it so much that it shined through his music. He was a beautiful singer that became famous from his top 3 songs “What a Wonderful World”, “la vie en rose”, and “Georgia On My Mind”! However, Louis came to really love music when one day a Jewish family offered him a job. They encouraged him to follow his dreams and sing because they knew how talented he was On New Year's Eve in 1912, Louis Armstrong shot a gun in the air to celebrate and was arrested. However, that arrest was one of the best things that could've happened to him. Through that he was then sent to the Colored Waif's Home for Boys. There, he was given musical preparation on the cornet to start his career and fell in love with music and began his path of becoming one of the most well known musician and singers in jazz history!
