Love And Compassion In The Book Night By Elie Wiesel

For the discussion over why love and compassion is vital to the existence of humanity, I will use multiple Psychology papers and some quotes from Night by Elie Wiesel. The quote that we will be discussing in this essay is, “Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries. Without them, humanity cannot survive.”-Dalai Lama, I will mostly be arguing on the side we need it, but I will throw in some arguments in that counteract my view on this quote.

In the book Night by Elie Wiesel they describe the many hate crimes that they Nazi’s displayed during WWII. The book mostly describes what happened to the Jews, but I do recognize that many other classifications of people were affected by these horrendous people. One quote by Elie shows the brutality towards Moshe The Beadle, “He was wounded in the leg and left for dead.” This shows that they may have had emotion, but they may have not had the cognitive ability to show it towards what they saw as the lesser kind. The other time they showed no remorse to them was when they told the wounded to the left and the ones fit for work to go to the right. This also shows that they saw them as animals. To elaborate on that statement they basically saw them as race horses.
