If you have heard of the Duggars, you may know that their way of life is rather controversial. I read Michelle and Jim Bob’s sequel to their first autobiography, titled A Love that Multiplies. They wrote this book in order to strengthen their readers’ relationships with Jesus and with each other. They also wanted to answer common questions that they get on a daily basis. A Love that Multiplies is a great book and worthy of reading. One excellent reason to read this book is to get a look on their lives from a different viewpoint. Throughout A Love that Multiplies, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar tell a large number of stories explaining everything that they do on a daily basis. In their book, the Duggars say, “we hope to show [families and individuals] how to develop a relationship with Jesus and find true meaning in life . . . we pray that our shows help strengthen other marriages and relationships between parents and their children” (Duggar 96). They explain that they want to strengthen people's’ relationships with Jesus. This comment explains that they are directing this towards people who want or need this close relationship with Jesus. Michelle and Jim Bob said that they wanted to answer people’s questions and let readers have a better understanding of the choices that make and why they chose to make a television show, write their books, and do interviews. In chapter eight of their book, there is a section, Modesty Matters, where they explain one fairly controversial topic when it comes to their family: how they dress. They explain: “we drew an understanding that God defined an exposed thigh as nakedness, and we agreed that in our family that we would wear clothing that covers the thighs” (Duggar 100). Michelle and Jim Bob then explain that the boys in their family are to wear pants or long shorts that are knee-length. The girls in their family are to wear skirts and dresses that go to the mid-calf while standing so they cover the knee while sitting. They do not want to
