In some places like Calafornia, Texas and Ohlahoma in 509 public schools, people are thinking of banning the book To Kill a Mockingbird. This book is about a young girl named Scout and the lessons and how she grows along the way. There is also a trial in the book about a black man (Tom Robinson) possibly raping a white woman (Mayella Ewall). The book shows a lot about racism towards colored people. The book could be banned because of the racist language used and rape content.
To Kill a Mockingbird is famous for its controversy. In fact, it has been banned from being read at many schools for its use of racial, sexual, and political content, all of these aiding the book’s “big ideas”. To Kill a Mockingbird has many themes. For example, one is about racial injustice. You would think a jury would establish their final decision based upon the facts, but in this book, the jury had already made up its mind once it heard that the case was a white man versus a black man.
“To Kill a Mockingbird,” which is called an “American classic” in a detailed topic description posted on the district 's curriculum site, was being used to help students develop “an appreciation for how ethical principles or laws of life can help people live successfully,” (Camera). According to the article, Biloxi, Mississippi removed the classic novel “To Kill a Mockingbird” due to complaints about its racially charged language. The district decided to remove the book from the required reading list in reaction to the racially charged violence in Charlottesville, VA. That being the case, school districts around the country are working to figure out a positive and ethical manner in which to prepare students to recognize racial discrimination
Should Harper Lee's How to kill a mockingbird book be a part of the school's required book curriculum? How to kill a mockingbird should not be a part of a school's curriculum in today's world. Why should How to kill a MockingBird not be a part of the school's curriculum? First off because the book is outdated and it does not represent our society today.
Some people think that to kill a mocking bird should/should not be taught in classrooms , Many schools teach To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee as part of their curriculum; however, some people think that this book is inappropriate for use in schools to teach this novel , it is important because It helps students understand how life was in Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird; the book (should not/should) be taught in schools because bad language, you can learn from it, and it teaches not to hate people for what others did. first off, some people think to kill a mockingbird is not a good story to be taught, because of the bad language for example, in a recently published article( by Brian M). , he says “I turn the channel on TV at home when language gets harsh and my five-year-old daughter is sitting next to me”, However, he changes the channel because he wants his child to grow up with virtues he wants her not to be exposed to that kind of stuff Therefore, he doesn’t want his child to grow up with bad language and bad influences but tkam can be looked as a good influence when you can see the mistakes people made that is why to kill a mockingbird should be taught in classrooms.
To the general public, Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is an exceedingly controversial book that has caused debate in the academic community for decades. The question is: should To Kill a Mockingbird be taught in schools? In my opinion, it should, due to its progressive nature and ability to teach critical morals to the reader. However, it should only be taught in schools if the teacher discusses the book’s controversy with their students.
Ever wonder about real life lessons and what comes with having them, well the essay you 're about to read will teach you about them. First of all many lessons from older times have been taught today in school, some may not have been. To kill a mockingbird is a great lesson that teachers shouldn 't teach today for example the book has old fashioned and very sophisticated writing like on pg(31) “Jems free dispensation of my pledge..”, what high schooler in 10th grade is going to know what that word even means. If teachers are going to teach a lesson to their students then the kids should actually be able to understand the writing. Another example why to kill a mockingbird shouldn 't be taught in schools today is because kids would read this book and most likely not even be able to relate to the book, the whole racism thing we wouldn 't understand mainly because in our times everyone is treated the same, color doesn 't matter.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a novel written and published by Harper Lee in 1960. The novel takes place during the three years of the great depression in the fictional town of Maycomb, Alabama. The novel deals with serious issues of rape and racial inequality. By examining the profanity, racial content, and references to rape, it’s deemed inappropriate for teens to read and is banned from several school libraries and lessons in school. Does the moral lesson of the story outweigh the so called inappropriate content of the book? Many people would agree with me if I said that To Kill a Mockingbird has a lesson in the story that every child should read and learn
This book should be taught to High School students across the country, and it should not be a banned book. To Kill a Mockingbird teaches students morals, and ethics. The book is still partially accurate to what some people go through even in today’s world, and what the books reads is still a part of history that should not be covered up and tucked away. To Kill a Mockingbird should still be taught in school systems, and should not be a banned book because the novel focuses on a part of history that should not be ignored.
This quote from the article shows the effects of a child’s exposure to violence and how it can impact them for the remainder of their lives. To Kill a Mockingbird contains numerous instances where violence such as murder and rape are present, and both of these crimes are extremely severe and brutal crimes that can impact the development of a child. This book is too vulgar to be something that kids are taught at a place where they are supposed to be happy and learn, rather than be traumatized because a character they empathize with was shot seventeen times. The novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee should not be taught in a school system because of the overwhelming exposure to violence that can have lasting effects on the children in school. To conclude, in the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee there is a constant portrayal of stereotypes, hypocrisy, and violence throughout the story conveying why it should not be taught within a school
It is understandable why people might think that Harper Lee’s novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, should not be taught in our education system. The use of what one might call The ‘N’ Word would, all in itself, prohibit a teenager from reading Lee’s book. But what this particular group of people, those that are against the book, needs to know is that there is a reason why Lee wrote the novel like she did. It should be taught in schools, and when one looks past the use of inappropriate language and cringe worthy occurrences, they will find that To Kill a Mockingbird is a well written novel, with events and themes that still apply to our society today. There are many qualities to a good piece of literature, and Lee’s novel displays a vast majority
