Did you know that there were three main women that helped in the women’s rights movement? There were three important women that helped other women act on the women’s rights movement. During the women’s rights movement, Lucy Stone, Matilda Gage, and Sojourner Truth were all activists that contributed to other women through the women’s rights movement. The first woman to contribute to the women’s rights movement was Lucy Stone, who spoke about how her life was impacted by the movement. Lucy Stone was a supporter of the women’s national loyalist league during the Civil War. She was a teacher working on getting her bachelor's degree and she became an activist for the women’s rights movement. She taught her students about anti-slavery and women’s rights. She was the first woman in Massachusetts to receive her bachelor's degree. She helped out with the women’s rights convention in 1850. She helped women internationally around the world. While she was working with other women while the movement was in action, she also helped organize The Women’s Journal. Despite the learning about Lucy Stone, let’s get to know more about Matilda Joslyn Gage, and her experience during the women’s suffrage movement. Matilda Joslyn Gage was born on March 24, 1826 in Cierco, New York. She lived in a household where they were extremely engaged in ending slavery. Her dad wanted her to attend medical school. She wasn’t excited about the idea of going to medical school because she was a woman. Matilda completed school

The house they lived in was settled upon an underground railroad that her father had built while she was just a young girl. Eventually, Matilda wanted to work with women struggling internationally. Matilda heard about the women’s suffrage movement. She was set on learning more about the women’s rights movement. She soon became an activist for the women’s suffrage movement. She co-founded the movement with two other women, Susan B. and Elizabeth Cady Stanton. She worked with them on the women’s suffrage movement. Matilda Joslyn Gage was one of the more important women in the women’s rights movement because of how she took her actions seriously when she was a part of the overall movement. Sadly, Matilda passed away at the age of 71 on March 18, 1898, six days before her 72nd birthday. After learning the respect for Matilda Joslyn Gage, take a look at Sojourner Truth. Isabella Baumfree was born in the year 1797. She was born into slavery at a young age. She was the youngest of twelve other children. She was born into a religious community. She was separated from her family when she was nine. She was sold to John Dumont. And more times after that for slavery numerous times.
