Ms. G Period 1 Lust for Power
“Why should choosing make any difference? Just giving orders that don't make any sense” (Golding 91) This means that being chosen does not mean anything. You have to prove yourself in order to get others' respect and hold power over everyone. This relates to the motif of power as Ralph takes his role as the leader too seriously and has total control over the boys. Although many people might not believe that lust for power is the biggest flaw of human nature, I think it is because of real life events such as local shootings caused by teenagers, the Nazies and Hitler, and other literary works such as Lord of the Flies. Although people would argue, through current events,

The Nazis were a political party that emerged in Germany in the 1930s and were led by Azdolf Hitler, born in Austria in 1889. He implemented policies that transformed Germany into a totalitarian state, suppressed political opposition, established the Gestapo, and used propaganda to manipulate public opinion. This led to him getting a lot of power over his land and he felt like he could do anything with Germans and could spread his beliefs about the Nuremberg Laws.. This was shown in the Holocaust, where because of his belief against Jews he ended up murdering six million Jews and millions of other victims. This proves his lust for power as Adolf Hitler was very passionate about his fame and how people perceived him, causing him to become influenced by totalitarianism and complete control over people. According to an article called Rise of Power of Adolf Hitler, in 1920 he was put in charge of the party’s propaganda and left the army to devote himself to improving his potion within the party, which in that year was renamed the National - Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (Lukacs 1). The Ukraine conflict, also known as the “War on Ukraine,” is a complex and armed conflict led by Putin's lust and beliefs that Russia has more power because it is bigger which started in 2014. The Ukrainian government and various pro-Russian separatist groups in the eastern Donetsk and Luhansk regions are primarily responsible as they were the main war areas. Collectively known as Donbass. This conflict was proven to be started by the Russian President Putin’s lust and belief that his power was much more powerful than the one of Ukraine and that he could take it over with ease. According to Business Standard, Biden said, “ President Putin’s craving for land and power will fail and the Ukrainian people’s love for their country will prevail”(IANS). This proves that Putin has a very big ego and that even with his power, he will fail whatever he is trying to do and the Ukrainians will never forgive him for this as they love their country very much. Another piece of evidence is from the New York Post proving that by starting this war and these conflicts, not only did he start the war against Ukraine, but also against America, NATO. It states, “ Europe was being tested. America was being tested. NATO was being tested. All democracies were being tested.
