The case study is mainly focused on the introduction of mobile banking in African continent, mainly two major countries; Kenya and South Africa. The Launch of M-Pesa, as it is popularly termed in African countries for Mobile Money, is the provision of mobile financial services, payment services and banking on small scale. However, the results for the two launches have been very different in almost every way and this service did not get much acceptance and popularity in South Africa as much as in Kenya, for the reasons studied and explained in this case study. Another differentiating factor is that its launch in South Africa though had the same model but was done in partnership with a bank as mentioned. This and many other factors that led to the differences have been studied and discussed in the report and solutions to remarket the service in parts of these regions have also been suggested likewise.
The main hindering factors which are majorly seen are the social and economic factors affecting in three primary concerns; the consumer reach and the way they have been reached, lack of two way communication and disability in educating the customers and the complicated set of regulation in South Africa hampering the growth of this …show more content…
