An Italian author, M.T. Dismuke, once boldly stated, “The only freedom you truly have is in your mind, so use it”. Each human bears their own individual intrinsic qualities that separate them from everybody else, and without these qualities all would be one and the same. I was born with the quality of a tinkerer, or creator, and grew up knowing that this was what I was meant to do, and would always do. For the entirety of my life, I’ve been doing just as M.T. Dismuke has exclaimed using the free-running creativity locked away within my mind to bring new ideas and creations into the world. Full days at my desk, in order to meet client deadlines, left me mentally exhausted, and I craved a hands-on project for my free time. Deciding to begin a project in an area that I lacked experience in, I purchased a used car that needed work. Not wanting to buy into a project that would just bore me down the road, I purchased a BMW M3, which is a performance automobile. Starting out my quest to refurbish this neglected car, I first had to learn the basics of how to work on a vehicle. It was very difficult to actually work on the car at first because I found myself needing to make trip after trip to the store to obtain tools that I did not currently own. After owning the car for many months and accidentally many destroying parts in my so-called “repair” process, I feel as though I’ve mastered many aspects of car repair. There were times during this refurbishment project where I vow never again to work on that car because of the unusual tendency for things to go awry. However, once again my drive to create overcame the adversity of the task at hand. The M3 now currently runs perfectly, after much trial and error, and the entire experience proved incredibly rewarding to
