The MLB has discussed if they should expand the thirty teams in the league to thirty-two teams in recent years. This makes room for two cities to acquire a team to bring their city a new, exciting way to enjoy a night out in their city. Many cities have been fighting for one of these two spots, but one sticks out more than the rest. If the MLB wants to expand and have a successful franchise in a new city they need to view Charlotte as a strong candidate for many reasons, like the rapid growth of the city and the minor league success. Rob Manfred, the commissioner of the MLB, has even stated that he has looked at Charlotte as a strong possibility. The MLB has become a successful league and wants to become an even greater success. They need to give Charlotte a chance because what do they have to lose. The MLB needs to give the city a chance because they cannot be as bad as franchises such as the Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, and the Miami Marlins who struggle to fill their stadiums every game by only getting around twenty thousand fans a contest. The closest team to Charlotte is the Atlanta Braves which is roughly two hundred and fifty miles away, they also have the Washington Nationals which is four hundred miles away. This makes the city of Charlotte a great spot to have the next MLB franchise because it does not overcrowd one area with too many teams and allows for the maximum number of fans to come out to the games. This allows for fans of major league baseball to enjoy a game without driving a tremendous number of miles to get to the stadium and spending more money for hotels at the city that they go to. This problem needs to be fixed and what better way to fix than to get a franchise to
