Macbeth’s Character Traits
Many have yearned for power. Most of us want to be superior like plagiarizing someone's essay due today, or tripping someone in a race to win first place. Shakespeare’s Macbeth demonstrates how quickly a mortal transforms as a outcome of power. Macbeth is a significant example of how an important person can become wicked when this inclination does not control. While Macbeth was faithful in the beginning, he becomes wicked towards the end, due to his devotion of power in a mistaken path.
There are people that want to be king because they want to rule a country, this desire to rule can turn a faithful person into a wicked one. While Macbeth wants to be king, he doesn’t want to kill the king in order to achieve that title. For example, he said, “If chance will have me king, why, chance may crown me / Without my stir” (1.3.157-159). Macbeth wants all his men to fight the enemy that dare laid a siege on his castle. Correspondingly, he said, “Hang out our banners on the outward walls./The cry is still “They come!” Our castle’s strength/Will laugh a siege to scorn. (V.v.1-3). This shows that Macbeth wants all his army to put siege on his castle against his enemy that is trying to break in. This emphasizes that Macbeth is being wicked because he wants all his army to kill every soldier that dare comes against his castle. Moreover, Macbeth said, “I have almost forgot the taste of fears” (V.v.9). This shows that Macbeth is feeling wicked because of the horror coming to his mind.
