24 February 2023 What lies in the present is what beholds in the future
“The future depends on what we do in the present” (Gandhi). Some individuals are willing to take anything away from others in order to improve their future regardless of what if it is immoral, especially in the case of kings and queens. The Tragedy of Macbeth by William Shakespeare is about a prophecy that leads the main character to murdering a king and his close friend. Macbeth brutally attempts to control the future and bury the past by assassinating king Duncan, visits the witches, and kills Banquo.

Macbeth wants to pursue the prediction of him becoming king in order to do so he will do anything to get that role and that includes murder. Furthermore, Macbeth believes in the prophecy that was said by the sisters. Later on in the acts, Macbeth has the urge to find out more about the prophecy.
Macbeth eventually realizes that Macduff is trying to find evidence of him killing the king.
“Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! Beware Macduff! Beware the Thane of Fife. Dismiss me: enough” (line 71 page 317). Macbeth hires some convicts to murder Macduff’s family as a warning which causes Macduff to not expect Macbeth of his wrongdoing. “He has kill'd me, mother: Run away, I pray you!” line 82 pg 323. Although the Murderers think Macduff’s family has done a different crime, they don’t know they are innocent and have done no wrong.
Moreover, Macbeth has dug himself deeper in his sins and has committed more crimes than before.
Macbeth also learns that Banquo’s child, Fleance will become king in the future.
So Macbeth hires the murderers to kill Banquo and his son, Fleance, as well. Although the murderers only manage to kill Banquo, Fleance manages to run away just in time to avoid
