The Story of a Tragic Hero Every tragic hero has a fatal flaw. Macbeth had a tragic flaw and it was greed. This greed caused him to break family ties, ruin friendships, and go power hungry. Macbeth already had power by birth but wanted more. He chose to change his fate because of the prophecy that the three witches had told him, and accepted his death when it came for him. First, Macbeth already had power as he was the Thane of Glamis and the cousin to Duncan. He willfully fought for the king and defeated the Thane of Cawdor in the uprising. The three witches tell him that he shall be the Thane of Cawdor but he shall also be king. He decided to act on this after becoming the Thane of Cawdor, he said “Stars hide your fires: Let not light
