The film Fort Bliss is about an army woman, Maggie Swan, who returns home and struggles to adjust. At first, her son does not trust her and does not want to go with her to her apartment. Meanwhile, at night Swan has trouble sleeping, every time she closes her eyes, she pictured a scene of the war. The flashback illustrated her at a search stop in Afghanistan during a hot day, one of her crew members Staff Sergeant Donovan switches spots with her because he notices that she is not feeling well. After a couple of weeks her son starts to warm up to her and even calls her “mommy.” During that time, Swan meets Luis and they start dating, during sexual intercourse Swan freaks out and yells at him to stop and to get off her. She finds a way that she is able to stay with her child, but she has to migrate to Korea for two years. Her child’s father, Richard, becomes upset because he might see his son once a year if he flies to Korea. Meanwhile, Swan has to find a replacement to go to Afghanistan, she appoints Sergeant Butcher, but then realizes he is a horrible replacement because he just wants to kill people and won’t do his job correctly, so she ends up deciding to go back to Afghanistan. Later, while Swan is talking to Luis, she tells him about the first flashback then there is another flashback of that day showing an Afghani man drives up and stops, it seems as if he was praying while Sgt. Denovan told him to open his trunk, then there’s a big explosion and Swan is the only one who survived. Almost at the end of the movie Swan is walking away from her son while he’s distracted, once her son realizes his mother is leaving, he starts screaming, Swan drops her belongings and runs back to her
