From 1954 - 1968 the United States faced an essential event in its history called the African-American civil rights movement which occured to have equal rights for the african americans. When these events occurred there were leaders chosen for the african americans. A voice that spoke out in favor for them, and not only was there one but there was two. This movement provided hope for these people and it began to show change in America. As change began to ensue, the Civil Rights Movement was impacted by events around the country. Reconstruction Period During this period of time, legal, political, and cultural changes to prohibit discrimination resulted in many events known as the Civil Rights Movement. Multiple events ended segregation and the conflict for equality. All these events were significant and each event led to another, but I personally believe the Fifthteenth Amendment, Freedmen’s Bureau, and the black codes were the three most important events during the Civil War. New Southern State legislatures passed a series of laws in 1865 known as the black codes.
The Final Milestone of the Civil Rights Movement In the 1960’s, Negroes weren’t given voting rights. They couldn’t vote for President, or Mayor, or Vice President. They couldn’t vote for anybody. They protested frequently in a peaceful way, but got no where.

The events that happened in Selma, Alabama, and Memphis, Tennessee impacted the Civil Rights Movement for the better even if there were negative actions at during the time of both.

One of the most memorable times in the history of the US is the civil rights era. At the time many groups in the US were fighting to attain their rights. One of the most highlighted groups of people in this era were the African Americans. Being that they had come out from slavery but still endured almost a hundred years of discrimination and racism. The civil rights era brought about most of the circumstances we see in our society today.
The lecture focuses on the Civil Rights Movement and the most prominent events and people. According to the lecture, the Civil Rights movement began before the 1960s. They began back to the 1600s and during the slave rebellions. The Civil Rights Movement could also be seen during the Progressive Era with people such as W.E.B Dubois and Booker T. Washington. Organizations such as NAACP and NACW were also part of the Civil Rights Movement.
I believe that a new civil rights movement is forming in America. Intersectional feminists, the BlackLivesMatter organization, and many individuals are striving for a change. Even presidential hopeful, Bernie Sanders sees the need for change in America. I have seen ordinary people organize protests. Others paid for the funeral costs for the police brutality victims.
