I am speechless at what is happening in this book. Tita knew of the consequences from the beginning. Good thing that she actually isn’t pregnant. I think that Mama Elena’s spirit was trying to warn Tita of the bad things that she was doing, but Tita wasn’t interested in hearing what she had to say. If Gertrudis wasn’t there, I don’t think Pedro would’ve ever found out that Tita was expecting his child.
Even though she was mistreated by her mother, Tita felt obligated to care for her. She prepared her mother’s meals carefully and made sure everything was perfect. When her mother spit out the ox-tail soup and called it “nasty and bitter”, it made Tita feel like a fool but her conscience kept her loyal to taking care of her mother until she died. In another example, she finds herself taking care of Rosaura’s children. In a series of selfless acts, she is the wet nurse for her nephew, and then cares for her niece when her sister becomes bedridden due to a complicated delivery.
Mama Elena arranges for the Rosaura family to move because she senses that Roberto is what is making Tita get closer to Pedro. Throughout the story “Like Water for Chocolate” you will find that imagery, flashback,
Rosaura worries about what Tita and Pedro are doing behind her back. While Tita is heartbroken because of the love that was stolen from
Do you ever just feel like ripping someone limb from limb and tearing into their flesh? Oh, of course you have. My urge to do so continues to grow, stronger and stronger every day. Ever since I bit that little girl, white padded walls are all I see.
Mama Elena often displays the societal expectations and pressures on the characters. Tita becomes a main opposition to Mama Elena, constantly attempting to disobey her rules set in place in order to be with Pedro. Very early in the novel, Tita is refused the right to marry Pedro due to the fact that she exists in the family only to serve the members when they age because Tita is the youngest child. Due to this, Mama Elena imposes multiple restrictions onto Tita such as cooking, being forbidden to marry, having to serve Mama Elena in her old age along with Rosaline, and other rules. Even once Mama Elena passes, her spirit looms over Tita, constantly forcing guilt and dread onto her.
Throughout the novel, women are seen as maids while the men have full control of their emotions and what they do in life. Tita fell submissive to Pedro at a young age. Pedro continued to show no boundaries with Tita, even when she walked away. Pedro showed up again when Tita was about to get married, trying to stop her. Even though he was already married, he wanted
Time and time again, Tita expresses her fatigue and distaste for these arduous chores. At first glance, it may seem as though Mama Elena is a merciless tyrant who only lives to torture Tita. However, Mama Elena assigns these tasks to Tita without any malicious intent, believing that these tasks are meant for the youngest daughter to fulfill, as she is a faithful adherent to family tradition. She expresses her appreciation for Tita in her own unique way, as she is not very fond of or accustomed to expressing her emotions openly. Her frank attitude, coupled with her lack of sympathy makes it so that her actions are misinterpreted by the reader as well as other characters.
School On the second day of school a new girl was coming to our class room I was very happy to see her I could be her friend I thought she was kind until she walked in I interdicted myself " Hello I'm Alyssa how are you!" I was so excited but she was not she replied "Cool I'm Katherine now move." She walked past me and started to pick on my best friend ally she was with me in the hospital after I got hurt on the playground I walked up to Katherine and told her " It's not nice to pick on each other. " She come walking over to me and grabbed my pig tails.
As a reader one can interpret the scene as if Tita was thrown to the bed. The scene makes it seem as if the action of Pedro throwing Tita to the bed, allows for Tita’s impurity. It also allows for the reader to imply a woman may know about true love even though the person can be violated. This creates for the reader to have the idea that an act of love could have also become an
It is the start of World War two, I'm so terrified, my father has gone into the war I can hear all the gunshots, children crying and asking where is my daddy. I start getting tears in my eyes my mother is says "don't cry it is okay darling. " A little voice in my head is saying "It will be ok" but I Know it is not going to be okay, but I was so frozen with fear.
The stress caused by Mama Elena’s ghost made Tita bloated of stress; Tita confused this feeling as being pregnant. As it turns out Tita was not pregnant. The forgiveness Tita have her mother could had benefit
Franz Schubert is a 31-year old Austrian composer who has been recently diagnosed with typhoid fever and a stage of syphilis. Schubert first began the battle with his illness when he started to suffer from headaches and skin rashes. A while later, he began losing his hair in small patches. These symptoms are very similar to symptoms for mercury poisoning, which is a common treatment for syphilis. It is possible that while Schubert was being treated for syphilis, he acquired mercury poisoning.
Tita is a strong female character who undergoes many challenges such as, losing the love of her life, being mistreated by her mother, and trying to not hurt her sister’s feelings. When Tita announced that Pedro would like to speak to Mama Elena about marrying her, she was lectured about their family’s tradition and in response Tita just “lowered her head, and the realization
