For some drug addicts that get incarcerated help may seem far away. For some the thought of getting clean is never going to cross their mind. In some situations, the criminal justice system instead of sending someone to jail or prison they will send them through a legal pressured drug rehabilitation program. These kinds of programs are more effective than the programs offered once incarcerated, which tend to have a success rate of about 11 percent. The big difference between the mandatory treatment and treatment that is provided through the prison system is that it is a more intense program that meets more than one time a day for one hour. Even though the rates are similar does not mean that people do not fail and relapse. Mandatory treatment does not work for everyone, this is not to get mixed up with it does not work at all, but it will not work the same for everyone. The same goes for anything else, everyone is different from each other and just because it works for one person does not mean that it will work for everyone. For the people that relapse it can be because they have no personal support through their rehab and once they are out it can be hard to stay clean if they done have different people to be around that want to see them succeed. This can be a weak spot on mandatory treatment because if that person is being made to be there they might not have the extra support that they need to be successful at becoming clean. Now only they might not want to be there in the first place but they also wont have anyone to help motivate them to cure their
