Mao Book Report In this book Spence talks about one of the most notorious communist leaders of all time in China. During The time that Mao was alive many dictators came into power and Mao was one of the most well-known. We discover not just from his times he was a dictator in China but we also learn about his humble beginning as a child. We look in depth at Mao’s believes and how he implemented his believes on to the people that he governed.
Mao was born in China during the decades of the waning Quing Dynasty in 1893. During this time the imperial china was dying. Mao had a humble and poor childhood living in the china from a conservative family. Mao attended a local primary school but things changed at the age of 13 when he left school and started working at his father’s farm. Mao’s believe was that the peasants should be a revolutionary class. He thought that they were essential and that workers and the peasants, should rule the country. He believed that each person should give his or her part to the country and that the country should give back according to their needs of life. Mao ended private property in China and collectivized farms. People now worked for the state and not for themselves. Everyone dressed equality. Education was free and dissent was not allowed. Mao’s believes are between the revolutionary struggle of the many people against the exploiting classes and their state structure. It involved peasants and military strategies involved guerrilla war tactics focused on surrounding the cities from the countryside, with emphasis on political transformation through the mass involvement of the lower classes of society.
