Margaret Mitchell was a famous American journalist and author during the time of the American Civil War. In her entire lifetime she only had one novel published,”wrote only one novel, she became a worldwide phenomenon reaching millions of readers globally..., Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award winning Gone With the Wind” (Mitchell),Which was Gone With The Wind. Margaret Mitchell’s inspiration for writing Gone With The Wind was her own life, growing up in the South, the American Civil War, and the strength of women during this time period. Has a young child, Margaret Mitchell was told stories about wars that had happened in the United States by her family members, she was especially interested in the ones who were involved in a war in the United States. Most of her stories that she made up had something to do with war. Margaret’s mother saved several of her stories in a bread box. These stories lead her towards the life of becoming a writer. She definitely was not your typical child, she was fascinated by the war and writing stories about it. When her family moved, Margaret attended the Tenth street School and later on attended Woodbury School. She later on began to branch out more towards writing, directing, and starring in plays that local members of the community would come to watch her and the others perform. After breaking her ankle, she then started to write her novel Gone With The Wind. According to some sources as to why she wrote Gone With The Wind, was because she was bored while put on to rest with her broken ankle. Considering the facts Margaret has once stated that , “Tomorrow is Another Day.”(Mitchell). Meaning that one day things could not go your way, but to hold on
