I believe that I can play a role in supporting social policy for marginalized groups in Canada. I also believe that I can play a key role in developing social policy for disadvantaged groups within society. As policy undeniably impacts the treatment and experiences that marginalized individuals face.
As an individual that identifies as a racialized minority, and as a member of a marginalized population in group in Canada, I believe that I have an especially interesting role to play in developing and supporting social policy for marginalized in Canada. Due to the fact, that the policy that I am developing and supporting ultimately affects me. Social policy that is made to assist marginalized individuals, undeniably impacts every member of a marginalized group, and when I formulate policy for my particular marginalized group, I will ultimately feel the effects of change that policy can create.

Due to the fact that as a racialized individual I have a particularly intimate understanding of the struggles and barriers faced by racialized individuals, through my personal experiences and experiences of those around me. Using this intimate understanding of the struggles of racialized groups in Canada, I will be able to formulate and develop social policy that can help address social inequalities for these marginalized groups in Canada. It is common knowledge that social policy can be better developed by a member of the particular marginalized group that the social policy is addressing. It is unwise for majority groups and dominant groups in society to try to understand the struggles faced by marginalized groups, without consulting members of that actual group.
