Not all heroes wear capes; Mine doesn 't fly or transport to a different place in a blink of an eye. However, my hero does read minds, predict the future and has the ability to be appear whatever she wants. My mother, Maria Valdes de Diaz, is my hero. She is the definition of a true hero for one simple reason; She always thinks about others before herself. Maria might seem like an ordinary mom, but that is just a cover. She is so amazing that I know some people might want to steal her and have her all to themselves. There is a Mexican saying that my mom used to repeat all the time when I was little: "Mas sabe el diablo por viejo que por diablo" which literally means that the devil knows more not for who he is -the devil, but because of his years of experience. Sometimes my mom has a way of taking me back to my childhood. She reminds me of Mary Poppins. Like her, my mom carries what it seems to be an “ordinary handbag”, but when someone needs something, even if it is completely random or uncommon, she pulls it out of her bag. A couple of summers ago, my family and I traveled to Europe. We got to eat some delicious food, but not for the reason you might think. Being Mexican means that something spicy needs to go with everything you eat. On our first meal of the trip in Italy, my sisters and I started talking about how we should have brought a bottle of Valentina (a Mexican hot sauce). Not because the food wasn 't great, but it really needed something spicy. When we turned around, my mom pulled out of her little cross body bag a tiny bottle of that incredible hot sauce. We could not believe that she actually carry it with her. Having that bottle made our meals just how we wanted -delicious and spicy.
