Many people always wonder what can they do after an election is over. One thing people can do is join an interest group to support the government. Essentially an interest group is an organization of people who force elected officials to vote for laws that are in their goodwill. These interest groups can be broken down into two categories: economic and noneconomic. Economic groups are groups that are looking some type of economic advantage for their members. In a sense, they are funding the legislators and waiting for a return on their investment (ROI). Founded in 1995, this interest group is one of the largest organizations in the country that is against marijuana prohibition. Their core beliefs deal with revolutionizing federal rulings to permit states to establish their own marijuana laws lacking federal interference. The Marijuana Policy Project has been accountable for shifting many state laws for marijuana in the past 15 years. The interest group has led advocacy efforts for decriminalization, medical marijuana, and legalization. Most recently the state of Vermont legislature passed a limited legalization bill, which will make it legal for adults to possess and grow limited amounts of marijuana. The belief of this interest group to transform the public conversation on food policy by teaching the public on exactly how legislators are casting their vote on these topics. During the course of teaching the public, people will be equipped with the statistics they require to choose with their utensils and help pick other food policy organizers through the United States. Hence, the Food Policy Action is core belief is to put emphasis on the importance of food guidelines and to encourage strategies for better eating, hunger reduction, cleanliness of food, and reduction of environmental factors on food production. So, the Food Policy Action supports positive procedures through learning and journals, which can have a significant impact on politicians and the
