Through my experience and based on my expertise, I believe I am the best candidate for the Pilot Enlisted Marine Inspector Training Program and will make a highly successful Marine Inspector for the Coast Guard. I am a well rounded Boatswainmate and have a wealth of knowledge from my time stationed aboard three different sized ships and qualified on eight different sized small boats. I have 11 years experience as a Boatswainsmate which will greatly assist me in this career path for the following reasons. I have had hands-on experience with several navigation systems as an underway officer of the deck, Operations Petty Officer on two ships with CG ECDIS systems, TRANSAS and ECDIS. I received training from Northeast Martime Institute for the TRANSAS navigation system, two trainings from the Coast Guard for the CG ECDIS system and on-the-job training for the ECDIS navigation system. Federal Laws and Regulations. I have completed the MLEA Boarding Team Member and Boarding Officer courses and am qualified as a boarding officer. This has taught me how to interact with the boating public while still maintaining and enforcing the law. I have experience as a boarding team member and a boarding officer at multiple Coast Guard units, working with many different scenarios and laws. This has also taught me the importance of staying current with the ever changing laws and regulations. I have completed the OUPV/6Pack course which has given me additional knowledge of the charter Boat industry.
