Mutiny, betrayal, murder, these are a few of the many themes displayed in the play The Tragedy of Julius Caesar. Caesar's friend Brutus has conspired with others, of higher ranking titles, in the city of Rome to put an end to Caesar's life. Whether it be because he is too ambitious, or the conspirators had ambitions of their own, they aim to kill Caesar. After the deadly deed is done Brutus addresses the citizens on the pulpit, about the reasoning and justification for his and the others actions. Mark Antony is then allowed to speak on behalf of Caesar, under the permission of Brutus. Speaking only in glorification for the late Julius Caesar, Mark Antony rebutted the speech given by Brutus. Manipulated by his own brother-in-law, pretending to be the citizens of Rome pleading for help, Cassius set the wheels in motion. The conspirators, including Brutus and Cassius, slew Caesar on his day to be crowned. To the pulpit, in front of half of Rome, Brutus was set to justify his action against Caesar.
