What's really taking place in the poultry industry? Both articles, "New Book Misses its Mark, Does Nothing to Educate Consumers on Realities of Modern Poultry Production", and "Is Tyson Foods' Chicken Empire a 'Meat Racket'?", have pretty convincing points; however, the latter article shows very little of facts, rather it expresses the opinions of the author and those interviewed for the article. The first article (New Book Misses its Mark, Does Nothing to Educate Consumers on Realities of Modern Poultry Production) does an excellent job of pointing out actual hard evidence on what is actually happening behind the scenes of the poultry industry. All in all, the beginning article is more correct than the second because it gives certain and definite facts that can be proved through investigation. First of all, Christopher Leonard (the author of the Tyson Foods' Chicken Empire book) provides a completely one-sided opinion, as it is said by the National Chicken Council (the authors of the opposing article). Leonard refers to the delivery system as "the hidden power that has quietly reshaped U.S. rural economies while gaining unprecedented control over the nation's meat supply". We need people worrying about the food we put into our body (Is it safe?, Will I be okay if I eat it?, Am I going to die?) instead of the system of delivery. For those who agree with Leonard, you obviously don't care what you place in your body. Our bodies are amazing machines that grow stronger the more we work them. We shouldn't want to sabotage that gift over a piece of chicken. Watching what you put in your body can assist you immensely, but not caring what goes in your body can just as immensely ruin you. Let's make sure the people who produce our poultry actually care about the animal
