Yolngu Boy is a film directed by Stephen Johnson, which explores the friendship between three adolescent Aboriginal men and the way each relates to the ancient cultural tradition. Friendship incorporates you having both duties and advantages, which are two vital factors of life with others. This is clearly shown in Stephen Johnson's Yolngu Boy between a companionship of three male aboriginals taking after their fantasy, which are named Milika, Lorrpu and Botj. Every one of the three of the companions have obligations and have benefited a couple times, yet did they all take after their duties equitably?

Farewell to Manzanar, written by Jeanne Wakatsuki and her husband James D. Houston, brings the aftermath of the bombing of Pearl Harbor to life through the the reimaging of the hardships and discrimination that Jeanne and her family endured while stationed at Manzanar. After the events of Pearl Harbor, seven year-old Jeanne is evacuated with family to an internment camp in which the family will be forced to adapt to a life in containment. Through the writings of Jeanne herself, readers are able to see Jeanne’s world through her words and experience the hardships and sacrifices that the Wakatsuki family had to go through. Farewell to Manzanar takes the reader on a journey through the eyes of a young American-Japanese girl struggling to be accepted by society.
Once we accept our limits, we go beyond them. In life we accept challenges and once we accept those challenges we can continue to grow. In the novel, “Bless me Ultima” written by Rudolfo Anaya; Antonio, is a seven year old boy who went through many twist and turns with a keenly questioning mind, a great deal of moral curiosity, and a solemn appreciation for the seriousness of life. I compare myself to Antonio do to the fact that we both were engaged with knowing destiny, learning to get over our fears, and learning to accept life and the challenges that came along with it.
Against School by John Gatto is an essay that attempts to persuade the reader that public education fails to educate its students. The main way Gatto tries to persuade his audience is by presenting anecdotal evidence and by showing the historical narrative to the education system of the Untied States. Gatto attempts also attempts to reach out to his audience by referring to commonalities in the public education system that have been experienced by many people. Overall the essay is persuasive but lacks any practical authority. The first thing the author does is provide background, background on himself and the situation with education in the United States; and, this is what the author primarily does.

Through past and new memories and experiences, we are able to reflect, assess and explore our owns concept of connections. There are however, obstacles and barriers one must meet to fully understand our selves and the complicated world of connections and belongingness. The environment or culture we are exposed in since we were infants for instance, greatly affects our identity- behaviour, values and actions- as we get older. Imagine two people from different countries, one grew up in Cambodia and the other grew up in the US.
In the novel ‘Boy Overboard’ by Morris Gleitzman, when you get to be in perspective of Jamal, a young boy living in Afghanistan and the issues he faces as he struggles to get to Australia. In the beginning of the novel, Jamal meets a tank which leads him to think about this ancestors, "I remember what mum told me about her ancestors. Fierce, brave desert warriors, tall and proud in the saddles of their mighty Arab steeds. Many stereotypes of African culture have emerged due to western literature and media and first hand accounts of explorers. Things Fall Apart offers a view into the truth and reality of African cultures, which are often misconceptualized by these stereotypes. Acebe shows how African society functions well without assistance from foreign travelers. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe counters the imperialist stereotypes of Africa by keeping certain words in the Igbo language, as opposed to translating them into English, to fight back against the spreading western culture and to embrace their own way of life. He also counters the imperialist stereotypes of Africa by using Igbo proverbs to show how their culture values many of the same things that western

Passarlay wrote his story into a novel because there were very few books written by refugees telling their experiences of their journeys. The larger context of this piece is the inhumane treatment of immigrants. An example of this shown in the book is, “There are thousands living in camps now. We are refugees in our own homeland” (46). In “Let them die” essay, Kenan Malik assert that endangered languages in the world should be left to dead. In other word, the minority languages should not be preserved, because it is not related to the achievement of “cultural diversity” (Malik, 3). Indeed, he expresses, dying languages should be removed in order to reach the “dynamic and responsive” (Malik, 6) culture. Set in a time where racial tensions between the blacks and the whites are at their highest, Africa is in desperate need of a gifted leader who can step up and guide the people to glory.
Black Boy Book Review Richard Wright begins his biography in 1914 with a story of his never-ending curiosity and need to break the rules. Although this biography only extends through the early years of his life, Wright manages to display the harsh world that a black member of society faced in the South during the time of the Jim Crow laws. Wright explains the unwritten customs, rules and expectations of blacks and whites in the south, and the consequences faced when these rules are not followed strictly.
