It doesn’t take much to change a single person’s perspective on something, but only someone with great tenacity can change a whole nations. And that is exactly what Mark Twain is known for. The life of the “infamous” Mark Twain was quite an extraordinary one indeed, through failures and mishaps goodness constantly prevailed and lead him to become one of the greatest writers in history. The story of his dubious life began on November 30, 1835. Born originally as Samuel Clemens.His family was never completely stable, barely making it above the poverty line at times, he never let it affect his ambition to be successful. He tried and failed in many get-rich-quick schemes.(Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 6th Edition, 1) After realizing this was a terrible idea to begin with he moved to Virginia City, Nevada. In which, he began to write for the Virginia City Examiner. It is there he started to write under the pen name “Mark Twain”.(Columbia Electronic Encyclopedia 6th Edition, 1) It is where he wrote his first hit, “The celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County”. The Gilded Age (1873), these next two deeply reflected his boyhood growing up in Hannibal, The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884); The Prince and the Pauper, a novel for children; and the nonfictional Life on the Mississippi (1883) were also hits.
