The novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is a sequel to the book Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is about a young teenage boy named Huckleberry Finn and a runaway slave named Jim that run away from their town. Before Huck runs away, he is taken in by Miss Watson and the Widow and they want to “sivilize” him since his father is an alcoholic and never raised him right. However, his father kidnaps him and keeps him locked up in a cabin. Huck's father gets drunk a lot and beats him so he decides to make it look like he was accidentally killed and then run away. Huck sees Jim as a friend, and they continue to stick together on their adventure. While on the island there is a storm that caused a flood and a house floats down the river. They go into the house, see there is a dead man, and collect things including women’s clothes. Later on Huck dresses up like a girl and goes back to his town to hear what has gone on since he left. He finds out that his father and Jim are suspects of Huck's death and there is a reward for anyone who finds and returns Jim. As soon as Huck hears this he returns to the island to get Jim because people are assuming he is at Jackson's Island and Huck doesn't want anything to happen to Jim. Once Huck gets Jim they travel down the river and not after long they come across The Duke and King. The Duke and King come up with skits that they call The Royal Nonesuch and take them into town to make money and they also pretend they are Harvey and William, but they get caught because they aren’t. As Huck goes to figure out a way to help Jim escape, he finds out he is at Tom Sawyer's aunt Sally and uncle Silas’s house. Huck talks to Sally and she thinks Huck is Tom. Huck pretends he is Tom but goes to find the actual Tom to make sure he doesn't get caught. When Tom sees Huck he thinks he is seeing ghosts because he thought Huck died but Huck explains he didn't really. Since Huck is Tom, Tom pretends to be Syd, his own brother. Huck comes up with a simple way to rescue Jim but Tom likes adventures so he comes with a long drawn out plan of digging Jim out. Huck and Tom help Jim escape by going through the hole they dug. However, on their way out Tom makes a ruckus and farmers start to shoot at them as they run to the raft. Tom gets shot in the leg and Jim tries to help him but he gets caught and is locked up. The people of the town want to hang Jim but since he is a runaway slave his owner might make them pay for it. However, Tom tells them that Miss Watson passed away and in her will she stated Jim could be freed. Tom gives Jim $40 for being their
