My hero is Kobe Bryant who committed to helping many of the world's problems such as when he donated money to the Make A Wish Foundation in order to help sick kids with harmful diseases or when he made an impact on the After-school All-Star program. Leah Shoff is the definition of a hero to me because
“A true hero isn’t measured by the size of their strength, but by the strength of their heart.” A hero is a person that does something to help or they can also save someone 's life. One example of, being a hero is Darry because he takes care of Ponyboy and Sodapop. Another example, of being a hero is Johnny when he saved Ponyboy and the little kids. American actor Christopher Reeve once quoted, "A hero is an ordinary individual who finds strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles" (Brainy Quote). Not only did he play a hero as Superman, he truly became one in his personal life. After becoming a quadriplegic Reeve became a spokesperson for people with spinal cord injuries. A hero is a person one admires because of the qualities and selfless actions they exemplify to overcome adversity and inspire others. Heroism is apparent in literature, history, and in our own life.
Heroes come in all shapes and sizes. There Are many examples of heroes in our everyday lives, but there are many heroes in sports. They aren’t heroes because they save someone’s life or rescue someone. They impact people’s lives in positive ways. They're great inside and outside of sports.
Debi Mazar is an actress who stated, “A hero is somebody who is selfless, who is generous in spirit, who just tried to give back as much as possible and help people. A hero to me is someone who saves people and who really, deeply cares.” Heroes are relevant to everyone, because at some point, everyone has had a hero. Sadly, today’s society degrades the meaning of the word “hero”. Heroes are an important aspect of life, but famous people are not always heroes.
While we may often look up to celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Kin Kardashian, real heroes exhibit more selfless qualities that reach beyond that of a self-fulfilling celebrity. In many ways, real heroes stand strong with their beliefs possess confidence and patience. Furthermore, real heroes are persistent, devoted and most of all real heroes are revolutionary and break boundaries. As a matter of fact, Jackie Robinson is one of my personal heroes because he set in motion the change of boundaries for major league sports. Further, he is a hero who was born to start a revolution in the major league sports industry.
Heroes in our society are revered and respected as Joseph Campbell reminds us: “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself” (Joseph Campbell). Heroes exist in all societies and throughout history. Maybe they are not always on the news or from the movies, but their words and their actions never fail to resonate across their feats. A hero gives of himself and dedicates himself to causes which better others and their society unlike individuals who are self serving, greedy, and cruel.
Jackie Robinson In my opinion I think a hero is a person that changes lives forever. My hero is Jackie Robinson because he is the first African American baseball player, first African American to win NL MVP, and the first African American to have his number retired. The first reason I think Jackie Robinson is a hero because he was the first African American to play baseball.
