Martin Luther King Jr. was an American baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the Civil Rights Movement in 1954. He had a great impact on race relations in the U.S. and he made a great impact on many lives. He died in 1968. Dr. King wrote 2 famous works, “Dream” and “Birmingham” and each had a different audience and purpose. Both works utilizes the persuasive techniques of pathos in “Dream” and logos in “Birmingham.”

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was born January 15, 1968 to Martin Luther King Sr. and Alberta Williams King in Atlanta, Georgia. At age 5 Martin Luther King Jr. entered a public school. Martin was baptized on May 1936. Then when Martin was 12 his grandmother , Jennie, died of a heart attack. This event was traumatic for him.
Martin Luther King Junior was assassinated in Memphis, Tennessee on April 4, 1968. It was about six o'clock, Martin Luther King Junior was standing on the balcony of the second floor room at the Lorraine Motel, where he and his associates were staying. A few moments later he was shot in the neck with a sniper’s bullet, King was rushed to the hospital and about an hour later pronounced dead at the age of 39. However, all humans have freedom of speech, and Dr. Martin risks his life to bring justice and equal right for African-American people. Dr. Martin is a good example for people because he was very strong to let the world know how important seeking for equal right and access for a higher and better life in the U.S. First of all, proponents claim that Martin Luther King is one of the bravest men in world because he kept raising his voice to all people with no fear asking for peace between the African-American and white people.
If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was alive today, I believe he would say we, as Americans, have not progressed enough when it comes to racial equality. With issues of prejudice, sexism, and flat-out racism coming straight from the white house, it is easy to say MLK would be disappointed with how far we have come since he gave his infamous “I Have a Dream” speech. RAAP (2016) discusses the regular occurrence of gun violence Americans face. King is widely known for his non-violent protest for civil rights. I can imagine him being heartbroken with the endless violence involving American citizens and the police.
